The "Wet Bar" Sailboat

We hung out on Friday night with the co-owners of the boat, Matt and Jeff. As you can see, it's right in the middle of the city, right next to Navy Pier. Wet Bar is the one with the black canvas over the main sail.

This was my first time hanging out down there, and it was a tad disappointing that we could not take it out because a huge storm was brewing. So we lounged until we had to take cover, over at Jeff's parent's motor boat two docks away. His parents were very nice, fun, and hospitable, so we stayed there the rest of the night. Their other son, Rob and his wife were also there, and you could tell they loved having us "kids" around. That boat is so fancy - it's like a one bedroom apartment! But we knew it was the ultimate boat when the boys pulled out the beer funnel........yeah.

The funny thing I noticed is that boat owners love to just hang out down on the docks with their beer or glass of vino, and socialize. They know all the neighbors, bbq with friends, and generally are just down there for a good time. Jeff and Matt confirmed this. It's like an outdoor private club :) But when you think about the price of gas these days, it's well over $500 to fill up the tank of a motor boat. So you might as well keep it docked. But I'm excited to learn to sail. And don't think I didn't buy "Sailing for Dummies" for my little brain.
