Eric and I headed out last Thursday night for our tour of the state of New York. Well not a complete tour but close. We flew into Buffalo and his parents, John and Ellen (also known by the grandkids as Pa and Buggah) picked us up. We had a 2 hour drive back to Marcellus, so since it was a late night, we were pretty lazy the next morning. Eric's brother, Barry, son Aidan, and neighbor Steve drove in Friday afternoon from outside of Boston to play in the 10th Annual Memorial golf tournament the next day. We hit a golf course for a little 9 hole warm up. Eric has been playing a ton of golf this year for work. Me? Notsomuch. Not once actually. But it was just like riding a bike - couple of shots in - all good to go!

On Saturday, we dressed in our golf attire - aka Army gear - to honor our serving in Afghanistan member of the team, brother Scott Doust, who normally plays in this tournament with us. We took Ellen's flag from her front porch and flew it out the sunroof of the car to the golf course, then fastened it to the back of the golf cart.....thankfully Eric's idea of blasting Bruce Springsteen's "Born In the USA" on a boom box didn't come to fruition :)

Early early Monday morning we flew out of Syracuse to NYC for the day and night. We got in a ton of walking and sightseeing.

As we walked along the river on south east side of Manhattan, we spotting filming for Law and Order: SVU. We didn't see any of the actors, but the cameras were pointed to a NYPD small boat.

For this years MLB All Star game, they put up a Statue of Liberty for every baseball team.

Lady Liberty herself.......We tried to book a tour earlier in the weekend, but maybe I should have thought ahead further than three days.... more like four weeks ahead. Mental note for anyone planning a trip.

Our hotel was a block away from Ground Zero. It's way to sad to even talk about what we saw...

And the glorious reason for our adventure to NYC - the birthday gift I gave to Eric back in January - tickets to a game in the last year of existence of Yankee Stadium.
